Jan Murfield
Jan
Murfield, CFRE, serves as Vice President
of Jeffrey Byrne & Associates, Inc.
where she focuses on capital and major gift
campaigns. As a principal responsibility,
Jan manages fundraising operations for the
Liberty Memorial Association, in Kansas
City, Missouri, which is completing a $104
million national capital campaign.
Jan has 22 years of experience in managing
nonprofit organizations, focusing on aggressive,
grass-roots fundraising. Her work as a senior
manager has allowed her to work in various
positions, motivating and training numerous
staff and thousands of volunteers to reach
fundraising goals.
Prior to joining Jeffrey Byrne & Associates,
Inc., Jan served as Executive Director for
the Children’s Miracle Network in
the Greater Kansas City area. The majority
of her professional career was spent with
the American Heart Association where she
served most recently as a Senior Vice President
for the Heartland Affiliate. Additional
positions held in her tenure with the American
Heart Association include: Executive Director
for the Oklahoma Affiliate, Executive Director
of the Greater Dallas Metropolitan Region,
Deputy Executive Director of the Kentucky
Affiliate, and Development Director for
the Sedgwick County Division in Wichita,
Kansas.
Jan has developed a strong track-record
of fundraising over her 22 years of in non-profit
work. As a Senior Vice President, Jan was
responsible for managing more than 60 staff
and hundreds of volunteers in annual campaigns
and major gift campaigns. Jan has developed
and implemented training programs for staff
and volunteers throughout the nation, which
resulted in raising millions of dollars
through cause-related marketing.
Jan believes in giving back to her profession.
She has served on the board of directors
of the he local Association of Fundraising
Professionals chapter. Previously for AFP,
she chaired National Philanthropy Day and
the chapter’s Development Committee,
served on the membership committee and is
now involved as co-chair of the Youth in
Philanthropy committee. Jan has served as
a member of the faculty for First Course
and the Survey Course for AFP. Jan is also
active in the (Greater Kansas City) Council
on Philanthropy, serving as the Program
Chairman for the Midwest Philanthropy Conference.
In addition, she served on the Leadership
Committee of the capital campaign for the
Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas,
which raised $28 Million.
Jan received her B.A. degree in Journalism
from Kansas State University and has been
a Certified Fund Raising Executive since
1989.
