Jeffrey D. Byrne, President & CEO
His
name may be on the door, but Jeffrey Byrne
will be the first to tell you that his work
is not about himself. It is about the organizations
he serves, the organizations that need to
grow and serve their communities. It is
about the skill and dedication of a team
who are devoted to the power of partnership.
Harry S. Truman once said, “It’s
amazing what you can accomplish if you do
not care who gets the credit.” That
is the philosophy at the heart of Jeffrey’s
approach to fundraising, and the key to
his success.
Jeffrey’s uncommon commitment to
building the readiness of his partners for
their campaigns has led to a 98% success
rate . . . as well as a high volume of repeat
and referral work. He is an outspoken advocate
for education, inclusiveness and flexible
support — and he insists that his
team do the same.
His vision for the Power of Partnership
is expressed through the Jeffrey Byrne &
Associates, Inc., full-spectrum services:
from the earliest stages of planning, into
community readiness studies, timelines,
action plans, recruiting and through evaluation.
This focus on sharing power and information
was forged over years of fundraising in
concert with experience in public affairs,
public service and the private sector. Jeffrey’s
depth of experience, breadth of perspective
and willingness to build both partners and
partnerships make him unique among his peers.
Jeffrey is a leader in the fundraising
community, an active member of the American
Association of Fundraising Counsel and the
recipient of the 1998 Excellence in Fundraising
award from the Greater Kansas City Council
on Philanthropy. He has presented nearly
100 seminars for development professionals
and volunteer leaders around the country.
Together with his Jeffrey Byrne & Associates
colleagues, Jeffrey publishes online newsletters
and articles for fundraisers, and contributes
to national philanthropic research through
GuideStar and other trade publications.
Under Jeffrey’s leadership, Jeffrey
Byrne & Associates, Inc., has grown
over the last five years to include a team
with more unparalleled experience in capital
and endowment campaigns, with offices in
Kansas City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Memphis,
Dallas and Cleveland. A merger in 2002 with
Campaign Consultants of America further
expanded the resources available to partners.
Jeffrey and his team now serve hundreds
of nonprofit clients across the country,
including the National American Red Cross,
the University of California-Berkeley, the
Juvenile Diabetes Association and hundreds
of branches of the YMCA.
Prior to establishing his firm, Jeffrey
served as vice president for advancement
and public affairs at the Harry S. Truman
Presidential Library and Institute. Before
that, he led successful development campaigns
for the YMCA of Greater Kansas City and
the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater
Kansas City. He was also the regional development
director for the Steppingstone.
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia
with a degree in political science, Jeffrey
has been a strategist and fundraiser for
several local, state and national political
campaigns. He makes his home in the Kansas
City Metropolitan area.

working in private enterprise, government
and the nonprofit sector, Jeffrey Byrne
brings a client-focused philosophy to his
presentations about fundraising, financial
development, and capital campaign management.
Jeffrey has shared his vast knowledge at
nearly 100 conferences nationwide.

into the presentation by responding to their
needs while challenging them to think about
the issues and values of their organizations
while making plans to obtain success in
reaching financial goals.
